Preparing for Watt Way’s repaving

Construction workers are tearing out the remaining sections of the old asphalt along Watt Way, the first step to repaving the connection between Childs and Downey Way.

This means that construction trailers, equipment, and materials are being shifted so that the construction fences can be moved closer to the building allowing for pedestrian traffic.

This section of road was closed early in the construction process to allow construction equipment to operate safely as well as provide an area for building material deliveries.

With several very large upcoming events on campus (including the L.A. Times Festival of Books and USC commencement) the plan is to have the road reopened this spring – well ahead of schedule. It will be paved to match Child’s Way which was resurfaced last year.
